China presented proposal in WTO – Dainik Savera Times

China on April 11 submitted a proposal to the World Trade Organization (WTO) to maintain the good operation of the Information Technology Agreement and enhance its co-operation. In this, an appeal was made to strengthen cooperation in trade of information and communication technology products. The majority of WTO members supported this proposal.
China said the information technology agreement has provided an open, transparent and predictable global trading environment for trade in information and communication technology products. This increased trade in information and communication technology products and related technology promotion.
China said that in recent years, the world has witnessed rapid development of information and communication technology business. The parties hope that WTO members will strengthen cooperation, enhance related work and increase trade in related products. In view of this, China suggests that WTO issue global trade report on information and communication technology products every year and remove trade barriers.
WTO members praised China’s proposal and expressed willingness to discuss related work with China. In his view, China’s proposal is constructive and proactive.
