India and the US may soon have a full-fledged defense agreement. Under this, India is going to get 18 armed Predator drones MQ 9A from America. This American drone is said to be the most powerful drone in the world. The Indian Navy has already taken on live two Sea Guardian MQNV drones manufactured by General Atomics from the US for maritime surveillance.

Six out of 18 drones each to the three armies

Out of the 18 drones that India will get, six each will be given to the three armies. Please tell that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to handle this entire program. Earlier this program was to be held in March. But it has been extended till April. Earlier, the Navy had stated the need for 30 drones, for which the cost was estimated at $ 3 billion. However, after review by the Chiefs of Staff Committee, its number was reduced to 18.

Preparations to beat the dragon from Nyoma airbase

India is now all set to begin the upgradation of the crucial Nyoma Advance Landing Ground (ALG) in eastern Ladakh. Rs 230 crore will be spent on upgrading Nyoma ALG. Under this, the airstrip will be extended by 2.7-km and made ready for all kinds of operations. The Nyoma ALG is located at an altitude of over 13,400 feet and is less than 50 kilometers from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. Therefore, it will take three working sessions to upgrade it completely by the Border Roads Organisation. The project which also includes dispersal area, hangar and other associated infrastructure in the prohibited area. An official told TOI that everything has to be ready by mid-2025.
