At the World Table Tennis Professional League (WTT) Singapore Grand Slam held on March 17, Chinese teammates Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu won gold medals in men’s and women’s singles respectively. The Chinese national table tennis team won a total of five medals, including three doubles gold medals in the last two days.
In the men’s singles final, Wang Chuqin led with 11:6, 11:8, 13:11 and then Liang Jingkhun won a tight match with 11:9. In the fifth game, Wang Chuqin played several exciting rounds and ultimately defeated his opponent 11:6 to win the championship.
After the match, Wang Chuqin said that I think my mind and body were involved throughout the game. I didn’t think about winning or losing at all. Because my entire focus remains on the game. I gained a lot of experience from this final.
The women’s singles final is exactly equivalent to the men’s singles final. Wang Manyu won three consecutive games with 11:8, 11:5 and 11:4. Although Wang Yidi won 11:7 in the fourth game, Wang Manyu, who was in very good shape, won the championship with 11:1. The Singapore Grand Slam has now ended, with the Chinese national table tennis team winning five medals.
