The company said in a statement that it has reduced the price of CNG used as a vehicle fuel in Karnataka by Rs 7 per kg. In other areas, the price of CNG has been reduced by Rs 6 per kg. “Gail Gas Limited has announced a significant reduction in prices with effect from April 9 to pass on the benefit of new domestic gas pricing to its customers,” the statement said.
The new rate of PNG will be Rs 52.50 per unit (SCM) in Dewas, Meerut, Sonipat, Taj Trapezium area, Raisen, Mirzapur, Dhanbad, Adityapur and Rourkela. It is Rs 51.50 per unit for Bengaluru and Dakshina Kannada. Similarly, the new price of CNG for Meerut and Sonipat is Rs 85 per kg. 92 per kg for Dewas, Taj Trapezium area and Dehradun; Rs 82.50 per kg for Bengaluru and Dakshina Kannada; 87 per kg for Mirzapur, Rs 91 per kg for Raisen, Dhanbad, Adityapur, Puri and Rourkela.
The company has taken this step after the government amended the formula for pricing natural gas. Due to the revised formula and price cap, the price of natural gas has been reduced from $8.57 to $6.5 per million British thermal unit. Natural gas itself is converted into CNG fuel for vehicles and PNG for cooking in kitchens.
