Compensation distribution to landslide affected people started in Joshimath

Compensation distribution to the affected landlords of landslide affected Joshimath town of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand as per the rehabilitation policy has been started from Friday. According to a government release issued here, the compensation distribution has been started on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and an amount of Rs 63.20 lakh was given to the three affected on the first day. The affected people to whom the compensation amount has been distributed include Subedar Major Manglu Lal (Seni) of Gandhinagar ward and Krishna Panwar and Baldev Singh Panwar of Sunil ward.

A compensation of Rs 63.20 lakh has been given to these three families. According to the release, the verification and evaluation of the records of the affected people is being done rapidly by the administration and soon the compensation amount will be distributed to other affected people under the rehabilitation package. In the first week of January, water started leaking from an underground source in JP Colony of Joshimath and due to landslides, cracks had developed in buildings in many areas of the city, due to which many families had to leave their homes and shift to relief camps or other places. It was lying Two hotels and some houses, which became a danger to the surrounding buildings due to deep cracks, were demolished by the administration.
