In February this year, total assets under management (AUM) in mutual funds crossed the Rs 50 lakh crore mark. A large number of investors are turning to mutual funds to save and increase their earnings. According to data, the share of women investors in mutual funds has increased from 15 percent in March, 2017 to about 21 percent in December, 2023. During this period, the pace of growth was faster in remote areas than in urban centres. The report prepared by CRISIL for AMFI and released by SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch said that about 50 per cent of women investors fall in the 25-44 age group, while the figure is about 45 per cent in the total group of individual investors.

Goa has the highest share of women in the mutual fund industry at 40 percent. After this, North-Eastern states are at second place with 30 percent.
