The consumer affairs ministry said that apart from NCR, tomatoes are being made available at subsidized prices in Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Patna, Muzaffarpur and Arrah. Tomato prices have shot up due to supply disruption due to monsoon. NCCF and NAFED are procuring tomatoes from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The average cost of tomato landing in Delhi is around Rs 121-122 per kg. The government is using the Price Stabilization Fund to make the commodity available at a subsidized price.
