New Delhi (Best Hindu News): The biggest ever social media data leak has been busted. Seven people have also been arrested in this case. According to cyber police, data of about 16.8 crore accounts of government and non-government organizations has been stolen in this data leak. It also includes data of 2.55 lakh army officers. The accused has sold the stolen data to 100 cyber thugs.
This entire gang has been arrested by the Cyberabad police of Telangana. These people were selling data in 140 different categories. In this, apart from the data of army personnel, phone numbers of all the people of the country, personal information of NEET students, etc. are included. This information has been given by Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Stephen Ravindra.
In this case, seven data brokers have been arrested from Delhi. All the accused were collecting data through a call center in Noida. The accused have also confessed that these stolen data have also been sold to 100 cyber thugs.
This data leak includes the data of 12 million WhatsApp users and 1.7 million Facebook users. The data of army personnel includes their current rank, e-mail ID, place of posting etc. These data can be used for army espionage. According to the police report, the accused have sold the data of 50,000 people for just Rs 2,000.
DCP (Cyber Crime Wing) Ritiraj said on the matter that a complaint was registered with the Cyber Crime Wing of Cyberabad Police regarding the sale and purchase of confidential and sensitive data, even as the police is probing whether cyber How the criminals were accessing the data. The police was working on this case for the last two months.
Earlier in November 2022, data of WhatsApp users from 84 countries including India, America, Saudi Arabia and Egypt was leaked and these data were sold online. The data of about 487 million WhatsApp users around the world was hacked. The hacked data also included mobile numbers of WhatsApp users from 84 countries, of which 61.62 lakh phone numbers belonged to Indians.
