A New York appellate court on Monday agreed to grant relief to former President Donald Trump in a fraud case if he deposits US$175 million within 10 days. If he does so, the court will stop the government from seizing his property until he appeals.
The development occurred just before New York Attorney General Letitia James began efforts to gather information for the decision. Earlier this week, Trump’s lawyers asked a provincial appeals court to block his $454 million fundraising case.
