Court declared the marriage of former Pakistan PM Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi illegal, sentenced to 7 years imprisonment

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to 7 years each. The court has declared the marriage of both of them illegal. This decision has been given by a court of Pakistan.
Court declared marriage of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi illegal

In the case of ‘Non-Islamic Nikah’, the court heard for about 14 hours and then gave its verdict. The court sentenced both of them to 7 years imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh each.
Bushra Bibi’s first husband had filed the case
Actually, Bushra Bibi’s first husband, Khawar Maneka had filed a case of ‘non-Islamic marriage’. In which it was alleged that Bibi had violated the Islamic practice of ‘Iddat’, the mandatory gap between two marriages. Maneka had also accused Bibi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party founder Khan of having a premarital affair. The trial court concluded the hearing on Friday night after a 14-hour long hearing in Adiala jail.
Imran Khan’s lawyer made serious allegations
Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja had said during the hearing in the court that the purpose of the petition was only to humiliate the plaintiffs in the case (Khan and Bushra). He alleged that the complaint against Imran Khan’s marriage was filed in November 2023, five years and 11 months after the marriage. Maneka’s lawyer told the court that the witnesses had testified in the lower court that Bushra Bibi was married to Khan when she had her second marriage, after which the court framed charges against both of them.
Bushra Bibi is related to the landlord family of Punjab.
It is known that Bushra Bibi (49) belongs to the landlord family of Punjab. His first marriage was with Maneka which lasted for about 30 years. Maneka also belongs to a politically influential family of Punjab.
Bushra and Imran sentenced to 14 years in another case
An accountability court of Pakistan had sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bibi to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.
