Doctors in Singapore believe that Covid-19 infection is at its peak in the country and some hospitals are receiving more patients than usual. At the same time, doctors are keeping an eye on the possible increase in cases of infection in the coming months.

According to ‘Channel News Asia’ Friday’s news, doctors had observed a stabilization in the number of infection cases in late December and recorded a decrease of about 20 percent. But hospitals are already planning to increase the number of personnel and medicine supplies in view of the surge in cases of coronavirus infection in the coming months.

According to the news, on an average 50 to 60 patients of respiratory infections are coming to Healthway Medical’s 57 clinics every day and most of these cases are of Covid-19 and flu. It was reported that this number is about 10 percent higher than the regular number of patients coming to hospitals, although there was a slight decline in these cases around Christmas.

“Cases of upper respiratory tract infections have plateaued after reaching a peak,” Dr. John Cheng, head of primary care at Healthway Medical Group, was quoted as saying by CNA. Most of the people have returned from their respective travels.

“Most of our clinics are really fully prepared to deal with the sudden increase in the number of patients with severe and upper respiratory tract infections,” he said.

The doctor said, “There is definitely a possibility of increase in cases by the end of the year and then mostly during festivals and holidays when more and more people interact with each other, travel whether within the country or abroad.” An increase in cases is expected during that period as well.
