Cyclone Mokha moves towards Bangladesh and Myanmar, relief camps prepared as a precaution

The ‘Mokha’ storm has created a stir in the country for the last few days. The extremely severe cyclonic storm over central East Bay of Bengal has moved in the northeast direction with a speed of 20 kmph in the last few hours. It is believed that now U storm can knock a very severe cyclone in the coastal areas of Bangladesh and Myanmar on Sunday.

It is believed that the storm will continue to move north-northeast. The storm is likely to hit the coasts between Myanmar and Bangladesh as a severe cyclonic storm on Sunday afternoon with a speed of 170-180 kmph. Its speed can also be 200 km per hour.

In view of this, the officials of both the countries have asked thousands of people to move to safer places. UN agencies and aid workers have arranged tons of dry food and deployed dozens of ambulances and mobile medical teams to refugee camps in Bangladesh. More than one million Rohingyas live in this refugee camp who have fled persecution in Myanmar.

Meteorological Department gave information
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said late on Saturday night that the camps located in Cox’s Bazar fall in the path of cyclone ‘Mokha’ and the cyclone is close to the coasts of southeast Bangladesh and Myanmar. During the cyclone, winds can blow at a speed of 220 kilometers per hour. It is likely to knock between Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh and Kyaukpyu in Myanmar. Bangladesh has prepared more than 1500 cyclone camps. The Navy said it has kept its 21 ships, maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters ready for rescue and relief operations. It has been raining since Friday in Myanmar and strong winds are blowing. Lin Lin, head of the Meittar Yaung Chi Charity Foundation, said more than 10,000 people in villages around Sittwe in Rakhine state had taken shelter in fortified buildings, including monasteries, temples and schools.
