DA Hike: Before Holi, the government has given a big gift to the state employees and pensioners of Haryana. Naib Singh Saini’s government has increased the dearness allowance of employees and pensioners by four percent. The state government said in a statement that after the revision in the rate, dearness allowance has been increased from 46 percent to 50 percent. The new rate will be effective from January 1, 2024. According to the statement, government employees will start receiving the increased DA with their salary from March 2024. Along with this, the outstanding payment for the months of January and February will be made in the month of May. Along with this, the state government has also issued orders to provide dearness relief (DR) to its pensioners and family pensioners from January 1, 2024. They will also be paid DR along with their March 2024 pension/family pension due in April, 2024 and the arrears of January and February will be paid in the month of May.

2.62 lakh pensioners will also get benefits
According to the agreement of the Seventh Pay Commission, the salaries of Haryana employees have been increased on the lines of central employees. Now employees and pensioners will get 50 percent dearness allowance. Due to the decision of the state government, dearness allowance of 2 lakh 62 thousand pensioners has also increased. Earlier they were given 46 percent dearness allowance. However, now 50 percent dearness allowance will be available from January. The increased dearness allowance will be given to the employees along with the arrears in the salary for the month of March. Let us tell you that even before this, the government had increased dearness allowance by four percent from July.
What is the mathematics of dearness allowance?
Dearness allowance of government employees is increased twice a year. Once in January and second time in July. If the government amends it later, then its benefit is given along with arrears. The formula of dearness allowance in India is calculated on the basis of inflation rate. The basis of inflation rate is usually the National Inflation Index (CPI). Based on this, the formula for dearness allowance is as follows: Dearness Allowance = [मौजूदा महंगाई सूचकांक (CPI) – पिछले साल का CPI] / Last year’s CPI * 100
Here, the Current Inflation Index (CPI) reveals the standard price position of real products and services during the current financial year and the previous year’s CPI reveals the standard price position of the previous financial year. Using this formula, dearness allowance is calculated based on the change or variation in the inflation rate in the market. This change usually varies for different sectors and occupations and is revised each year based on the latest current CPI.
