DART Near Earth Asteroids: Humans will not die the death of dinosaurs! If the ‘doomsday’ moves towards the earth, then this weapon of NASA will lick the dust, has shown its strength – dart mission is the best way to protect earth from asteroids threat with kinetic impact new research says

Last year in November 2021, NASA launched the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft to collide with the ‘small’ asteroid Dimorphos. This asteroid revolves around a large rock named Didymos. The purpose of this mission was to find out whether such a collision could enough alter the path of an asteroid to impact Earth. It is being claimed that the mission has proved to be a complete success.
Dart mission proved successful
The experiment was ‘a surprising success’, according to five research papers published Wednesday in the journal Nature. This twisted Dimorphos’ orbit more than scientists had expected. These studies confirm the results of an earlier study, according to which the orbit of Dimorphos accelerated by 33 minutes for Didymos, instead of the 7 minutes that scientists had expected. Astronomers tracked the plume of debris emanating from Dimorphos for several weeks following the September 2022 collision.
Wow! Amazing view of DART collision from space
Asteroid was turned into a comet
The debris and dust ejected from the asteroid gave it a comet-like appearance. The study found that the collision had reduced the mass of the asteroid by 0.3 percent to 0.5 percent. Its speed has been affected by the reduction of the mass. A research paper states that the success of the DART mission shows that the kinetic impact technique is a viable technology to protect the Earth if necessary.
