Delhi government presented a budget of Rs 76000 crore, women will get Rs 1000 every month, emphasis on Ramrajya.

Delhi Finance Minister Atishi today (March 4) presented the 10th budget of the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in the Delhi Assembly for the financial year 2024-25. This is his first budget after joining the cabinet in March last year. Atishi presented the Delhi government’s Rs 76,000 crore budget for 2024-25 in the state assembly. The budget session of the Delhi Assembly began on February 15 and has been extended till the first week of March. It was to end on 21 February.

Atishi’s first budget speech

Addressing his first budget speech in the state assembly, Atishi said the Delhi government is trying to realize the dream of Ram Rajya. She said that today I am not only presenting the 10th budget of the Kejriwal government but will also present the changing picture of Delhi in the last ten years. He said that all of us present here are inspired by Lord Ram. We have been trying day and night for the last 9 years to fulfill this dream of Ram Rajya. We have tried to provide happiness and prosperity to the people of Delhi in the last 9 years. A lot remains to be done to establish ‘Ram Rajya’ in Delhi but a lot has been done in the last 9 years.

He said that in 2014, Delhi’s GSDP was Rs 4.95 lakh crore and in the last ten years, Delhi’s GSDP has increased two and a half times to Rs 11.08 lakh crore. In 2014, the per capita income of Delhi was Rs 2.47 lakh and today the per capita income of Delhi has become 4.62 lakh, which is two and a half times more than the national average. Today I am going to present a budget of Rs 76,000 crore. In this budget of Rs 76,000 crore, not a single penny is going to be received as share in central taxes… Till now it used to be that the child of a rich family will be rich and the child of a poor family will be poor but this is this ‘Ram Rajya’. It was completely contrary to the concept. Kejriwal government has made changes in this.

Atishi told that today the children of laborers are going to become managing directors. 2,121 children studying in Kejriwal government schools have passed JEE and NEET exams. Education has been the priority of our government. In 2015 we doubled the education budget. We spend one-fourth of our expenditure only on education…This year we are making a provision of Rs 16,396 crore for education. Along with this, he said that the Kejriwal government will give ₹ 1,000 monthly to every woman aged 18 years and above under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana. He said that saving a person’s life is also ‘Ram Rajya’. However, we all know that a few years ago people in Delhi were afraid to help accident victims. That’s why we started the ‘Angels of Delhi’ scheme. Under this, the Delhi government will bear the expenses of the accident victims. As a part of this scheme, we have saved 22,000 lives in Delhi.
