The participants of the program organized on the death anniversary of Bhagat Singh carried banners and raised slogans demanding justice for Shaheed-e-Azam. To mark the occasion, candles were lit at Shadman Chowk in a program organized by Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Pakistan.
A resolution was also passed during the programme, urging the court to re-hear Bhagat Singh’s case and give him justice in the same manner as it was done for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Bhutto was hanged more than 40 years ago through a sham judicial trial. The Parliament of Pakistan passed a resolution on 13 March demanding overturning the death sentence given to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Bhutto, who was hanged by the military regime of General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq in 1979. In the resolution passed during the program organized on Saturday, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was requested to give the status of national heroes to the three brave sons, not only this, there was also a demand to honor Bhagat Singh with Pakistan’s top gallantry award. .
The proposal also demanded changing the name of Shadman Chowk after Bhagat Singh. This matter is already under consideration. On this occasion, Foundation Chairman Advocate Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi said that peace between Pakistan and India is the need of the hour, which will benefit millions of people.
Qureshi said the government should recognize the sacrifice of war heroes. He said that his foundation will continue to fight Bhagat Singh’s case until he (Shaheed-e-Azam) gets his due status at the place where he was hanged.
