Donald Trump was ordered on Friday to pay $354,868,768 in penalties and interest to the state. Just hours after Justice Arthur Engoron’s decision, Trump supporters launched a $355 million GoFundMe campaign to call for the “unjust verdict.” The fundraiser Stand With Trump has received $34,797 in donations so far. After the Angoron verdict, the former US President called New York Attorney General Letitia James in court as completely corrupt.
The fundraiser was founded by Elena Cardone, wife of real estate investor and influencer Grant Cardone. In her description of the fundraiser, Elena describes herself as a strong supporter of American values and an advocate for justice. She further says, I stand firmly with President Donald Trump in the face of unprecedented and inappropriate behavior by certain judicial elements in New York. The Elena fundraiser praised Trump’s presidency, saying, “Throughout his presidency and beyond, Trump has fought tirelessly for this country, risking everything to preserve the freedoms and principles that stand behind us That define us as a nation.” Despite controversy surrounding the massive fundraiser, the campaign has seen an influx of donations just hours after its launch. At the time of writing, Trump’s campaign has received 921 donations.
Despite being a staunch supporter of Trump, far-right activist Laura Loomer warned fellow supporters against donating to the GoFundMe campaign. His message was in response to Grant’s announcement on stage about his wife raising money for Trump.
