Earth Hour is a global energy-saving program presented by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to combat global climate change. Accordingly, households and shopkeepers are encouraged to switch off unnecessary lights and electrical appliances for 1 hour at 8:30 pm local time on the last Saturday of March every year. The purpose of which is to show their support against climate change.

Excess emissions of carbon dioxide cause climate change, which is a major threat to human survival. By changing the attitudes of people around the world on carbon dioxide emissions, the impact of this threat on the world will be reduced.

In recent years, China has made significant progress in the field of scientific and technological innovation, promoting the development and application of low-carbon technologies. Low-carbon products such as new energy vehicles and smart energy-saving home appliances are widely used, which make a positive contribution to reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. China’s energy structure is gradually optimized, and the proportion of clean energy is continuously increasing. The proportion of renewable energy sources such as hydropower, wind power and solar power is increasing year by year, while the proportion of traditional coal and other high-carbon energy sources is gradually decreasing.

As one of the world’s largest developing countries, China has demonstrated a positive international image and leadership during Earth Hour events. China’s plans to combat climate change have received wide recognition and support from the international community and have made important contributions to global environmental governance.
