Egypt President al-Sisi confers PM with ‘Order of the Nile award’

Cairo: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Egypt on Saturday on a state visit. On Sunday, he held bilateral talks with the country’s President Abdul Fatah al-Sisi in the capital Cairo. President CC has honored Modi with the country’s highest honor Order of the Nile during the meeting. This is the 13th highest state honor given to Prime Minister Modi. In January this year, Al Sisi had come to India as the chief guest on the occasion of Republic Day. During this, he had invited PM Modi to visit India. The last time a PM from India visited Egypt was in 1997. In such a situation, Modi is the first Indian PM to visit the country in 26 years. Modi was received by Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly on Saturday. During this, he was also given the Guard of Honor.

The Order of the Nile was started in 1915. This honor is given by Egypt to the Presidents, Princes and Vice Presidents of any country who have provided invaluable services to this country or in the field of humanity. This award actually looks like a collar of gold. Pharaonic symbols are included on the gold units. The first unit of gold connotes the idea of protecting the kingdom from evils, the second unit alludes to the prosperity and happiness brought by the Nile River. While the third unit symbolizes wealth and stamina. The award carries a circular gold pendant decorated with turquoise and gems, consisting of three units linked together.
