Damascus (Uttam Hindu News): Five pro-Iranian militiamen and three civilians were killed in an Israeli missile strike two days ago overnight near the international airport of the city of Aleppo in northern Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Sunday that five pro-Iranian fighters were killed in the attack, including a Syrian civilian whose wife, son and nephew were also killed.
The Britain-based monitoring group said Israel has targeted Syrian territories 45 times since the war on Gaza began in October, 17 of which were rocket attacks by ground forces and 28 were airstrikes, Xinhua news agency reported.
Israel has recently increased its attacks on Syrian targets along with its military campaign in the Gaza Strip.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned the Israeli attacks and urged the UN Security Council to take decisive action to stop them. Syria has been mired in a civil war for more than 12 years, with government forces of President Bashar al-Assad fighting against opposition groups.
