The last hearing was held on April 28 in Noida. Sources said the commission will now send a compiled report of public objections to various discoms to seek their response. Thereafter, the Commission will analyze the tariff taking into account all the comments of the stakeholders before formally announcing the tariff. A senior official said, “It is expected to take a month. The Commission is expected to be able to announce the tariffs by the first week of June. Sources said that UPPCL has highlighted the rising operating cost of thermal power plants.
The cost of coal used here has increased. UPPCL has not only proposed an increase in the power unit charge, but has also increased the fixed charge from 10 to 15 per cent. Awadhesh Verma, president of the Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Consumers Council, who is one of the petitioners in the power tariff case, said the association attended all the hearings. “UPPCL needs to solve the issue of more than Rs 25 thousand crore of consumers,” he said.
