The Prime Minister said that in 2014, such was the situation that due to scams worth lakhs of crores, the reputation of the country was at stake. We decided to reimagine every element of the government. Today, India has put a new model of physical and social infrastructure development in front of the whole world. 40% of the world’s real time digital payments take place in India. This is the answer of people looking at those people, who used to think that from where the poor of India would be able to make digital payments. The issues related to welfare delivery were reimagined. Earlier the account of the poor, they were not considered to have the right of property, toilet, electricity, clean cooking fuel, net connectivity and this thinking has been changed.
The picture of the previous districts has changed
Earlier some people used to talk about removing poverty, but the truth was that earlier the poor were considered a burden on the country. The focus of our government is to empower the poor so that they can contribute to the progress of the country with all their might. The Prime Minister said that four decades ago, the then PM Rajiv Gandhi had said that if you send Re 1 for welfare from Delhi, you get 15 paise. Our government has transferred Rs 28 lakh crore under the direct scheme to different sectors. Now when one rupee leaves Delhi, 100 out of 100 paise reaches the needy. The PM said that once upon a time Nehru ji had said that the day every Indian would have the facility of toilet, that day we would know that the country is at a new height of development. Nehru ji was also aware of the problem but did not see the readiness to solve it. When we got the opportunity to serve, the sanitation coverage in the rural areas of the country was less than 40%. We built more than ten crore toilets in such a short time, started the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Today the sanitation coverage in rural areas has reached 100%, this is also a result of reimagine.
The PM said that in 2014 there were more than 100 such districts in the country, which were considered backward, but now the picture of these districts has changed. Earlier the power of infrastructure was not understood. Today, India has kept a new model of its development. In 9 years, more than six lakh km of optical fiber has been laid in the country. The country’s gross tax revenue in 2013-14 was Rs 11 lakh crore, while it is expected to be more than Rs 33 lakh crore in 2023-24. The number of taxpayers has increased and the government has put faith in the people. People believe that their tax money is being spent in the development of the country.
