EU to impose new sanctions against Russia as Russia-Ukraine war drags on for two years

The European Union agreed on Wednesday to impose new sanctions against Russia targeting individuals and businesses, including Chinese companies aiding Moscow in its war against Ukraine.
This decision has been taken at a time when two years of Russia’s attack on Ukraine are about to be completed and recently the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has come to light. Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Belgium, which currently chairs the 27-nation EU, said the new sanctions are “one of the most comprehensive ever approved by the EU.” Diplomatic sources said envoys from all EU member states were meeting about 200 companies and companies. Have agreed to impose sanctions on individuals.
He said the restrictions have yet to be formally adopted. Sources said that the sanctions also include several Chinese companies which are believed to have provided help to Russia. Details of the targeted entities will be revealed when the sanctions are published in the EU Journal of Justice.
