New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) has facilitated direct benefit transfer (DBT) worth Rs 34 lakh crore. He has also asked the accounting officers to increase the efficiency and transparency of the system. Sitharaman, in a written message to the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) and the Indian Civil Accounts Organization (ICAO) on the occasion of the 48th Civil Accounts Day, said that PFMS has been the cornerstone for establishing a strong payment and accounting network as well as efficient fund flow system.
PFMS is a management information system used by Indian Civil Accounts Service officers to manage the accounts of the government. It is also used to transfer funds to beneficiary accounts of various government schemes through DBT. Sitharaman said in her message that Rs 34 lakh crore has been transferred from the government under the Direct Benefit Transfer system through PFMS. This is a proof of how the benefits have been delivered directly to the citizens without any disturbance due to the effectiveness of the system. Go.
