New Delhi. The country’s leading automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) wholesaled a total of 1,97,471 units in the month of February, which is 15 percent more on an annual basis. Releasing sales figures for February on Friday, the company said it had sold 1,72,321 units in the same period a year ago. During the period under review, Maruti’s domestic passenger vehicle sales increased by nine percent to 1,60,271 units. In this, the number of small cars like Alto and S-Presso was only 14,782 units.

Similarly, sales of compact cars like Baleno, Celerio, Dezire and Swift also fell by 10 percent to 71,627 units. But the utility vehicles segment like Brezza, Ertiga and Grand Vitara witnessed a strong growth of 82 per cent last month. In February, Maruti sold 61,234 utility vehicles compared to 33,550 a year ago. The company said it also exported 28,927 vehicles in February as against 17,207 units in the same period a year ago.
