Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz held talks with smaller parties on Wednesday as part of its efforts to form a coalition government under the leadership of party president Shehbaz Sharif at the Centre. Following the power-sharing agreement with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), PML-N representatives held meetings with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Istiqam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). The Express Tribune newspaper reported that the PML-N and MQM-P agreed to cooperate within the government framework. The agreement outlines a commitment to promote rapprochement and cooperation with a focus on enhancing political, democratic and economic stability throughout the country. The focus of their discussions was to lay the groundwork for future discussions on important issues such as ensuring equitable distribution of resources and powers, protection of urban rights in Sindh, especially in Karachi, and restoration of the port city’s economic prominence.
According to another statement, a meeting was called between the coordination committees of PML-N and BAP, which reaffirmed their dedication to deal with the challenges faced by Balochistan and the federation. Representatives from both parties, including Ishaq Dar, Ayaz Sadiq, Azam Nazir Tarar and Malik Ahmed Khan from PML-N, Khalid Magsi, Sadiq Sanjrani and Kauda Babar from BAP.
