Mumbai: Indian benchmark indices are trading in red mark today. BSE Capital Goods Index is the only sectoral index with gains. BSE IT index was the top losing sector in the market. On Friday, the BSE Sensex slipped nearly 245 points or 0.38% to 64,905 and the NSE Nifty-50 index was trading down nearly 73 points or 0.39% to 19,293. Today, 1,622 scrips advanced, 1,780 scrips declined and 164 scrips remained unchanged on the BSE.

Top gainers and losers on BSE:

Tata Motors Ltd, Axis Bank and Maruti Suzuki India were top gainers on the Bombay Stock Exchange today, while Wipro Ltd, Tata Consultancy Ltd and Tech Mahindra Ltd were top losers on the Sensex.

The indices traded lower in the broader market. While the BSE Mid-Cap index was trading down 0.29%, the BSE Small-Cap index was up 0.03%. Top mid-cap gainers were CG Industries Ltd. and Adani Power Ltd., while top small-cap gainers were J Corp Ltd. and Mayur Uniquoters Ltd.
The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies as on August 18, 2023 is approximately Rs 303 lakh crore. With this, 169 stocks hit 52-week high and 26 hit 52-week low.
