Forbes Most Powerful Women list 2023: The year 2023 is about to end. In the last month of the year, Forbes has released its annual list of the most powerful women. Four Indians were included in this list of 2023. The highest ranking Indian woman in the list is Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful women, which also includes celebrities like Taylor Swift and US Vice President Kamala Harris. In the list where Nirmala Sitharaman is at 32nd place. The most powerful woman topping the Forbes World’s Most Powerful Women list 2023 is Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, followed by Christine Lagarde, boss of the European Central Bank. US Vice President Kamala Harris is at third place in this list. Nirmala Sitharaman was appointed as the Finance Minister of India in 2019. He also holds the post of Union Minister of Corporate Affairs. Earlier, Sitharaman served as the 28th Defense Minister of India, the second woman in the country to hold both these ministries. Last year, the Finance Minister was ranked 36th in the Forbes list of most powerful women of 2022. This means that his stature has increased in the global eyes. Meanwhile, Fortune named her as the most powerful woman in India.
Roshni Nadar took over as Chairman of HCL in 2020
The other three Indians in the list include HCL Corporation CEO Roshni Nadar Malhotra at 60th rank, Steel Authority of India chairperson Soma Mandal at 70th rank and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw at 76th rank. The second highest ranked Indian woman is Roshni Nadar, the billionaire daughter of businessman Shiv Nadar. She took over as the Chairman of HCL in July 2020 and is in charge of all strategic decisions in the company. 70-year-old Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, founder of Bengaluru-based biotech company Biocon, is recognized as one of the most powerful business women. Other women in the top 10 list include Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Melinda Gates and Jane Fraser.
