Former Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhary entered the court by running to avoid arrest

Pakistan’s former information minister Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday barged into the High Court building here, putting his life at risk to avoid re-arrest. Chaudhry, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, was detained as part of maintenance of public order in the wake of violent protests by his party’s supporters following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan last week, and he A petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to be released.

During a hearing in the court of Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb, Chaudhary gave an affidavit that he would not participate in any violent protest, after which the court ordered his release. Encouraged by this, Chaudhary started leaving from there even before the written order was issued by the court. After this, when he started going home in his car, he felt that the police officers were following him. In TV footage, Chaudhary was seen getting out of the vehicle and running towards the entrance of the court building. He was seen bending over and gasping for breath when a lawyer came to his aid.

Someone was heard from behind saying “bring water for them”. Meanwhile, someone else says, “We are going to die.” Chaudhary’s wife Hiba tweeted, “They tried to arrest once again. Chowdhary later told Justice Aurangzeb that despite being granted bail by the court, the police tried to arrest him. Later the judge consoled him. The judge said, “You are a lawyer yourself, so you should have waited for the written order.” After this, the judge restrained Chaudhary from arresting him in any case, after which he heaved a sigh of relief.
