Jailed Imran Khan’s lawyers have said that the former Prime Minister of Pakistan is willing to hold talks with any political party or organization only on the issue of holding elections in the country. Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has been demanding early elections ever since he lost power. He had lost a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly in April last year. He later launched an intense campaign under the slogan ‘Hakiki Azadi’, demanding elections and blaming the then government of Shehbaz Sharif and the military leadership for his ouster from power.
After meeting Khan at Punjab’s Attock Jail, his lawyer Gauhar Khan posted on ‘X’ (earlier Twitter) that ‘the PTI chief just wants to discuss the election with everyone’. He said, “Finally, met Khan Saab with other associates in Attock district. He is very enthusiastic, but he is worried about the ongoing uncertainty, inflation and terrorism.
Khan’s other lawyer Nadeem Haider Panjutha said the former prime minister has a clear message that unless there is political stability, there will be no economic stability in Pakistan. Panjutha posted on Twitter that the PTI chief said, “We are ready to discuss with everyone, but will talk only on elections.” Will also interact with political party or organization.
