Paris, 09 August (Hindustan). Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France, President Macron has announced a five-year Schengen visa for former Indian students in a big gift. France on Tuesday said it has announced a five-year Schengen visa for former Indian students under the new education policy.
Under this, 30 thousand students from India will be welcomed in France by the year 2030. Its objective is to encourage academic excellence and cultural ties and foster lasting friendship between the two countries.
Last month, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Paris, France had announced new initiatives to welcome Indian students and alumni. The French Embassy said in this regard that France believes that when an Indian student completes even just one semester in France, it creates a bridge that needs to be maintained and celebrated.
The embassy said that Indian students who have a post graduate or higher degree and who have spent at least one semester in France are eligible for a five-year Schengen visa. He said that this is a special arrangement for former Indian students to maintain close ties with France and their French counterparts.
