Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 140 crore Indians know that the people of Bhutan are members of their own family, the people of Bhutan also know this and believe that India is their family. Our relations, friendship, mutual cooperation and trust are unbreakable. That’s why today is a very special day for me. Today is a big day in my life as an Indian, you have honored me with the highest national award of Bhutan. Every award is special in itself but when we get an award from another country, it makes us feel that both our countries are moving in the right direction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that I assure you that in the coming 5 years we will take the mutual cooperation between the two countries to new heights. We will work on new possibilities in connectivity, trade, infrastructure and energy sectors between India and Bhutan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India and Bhutan share a common heritage. India is the land of Lord Buddha, his abode of penance. India is the land where Buddha attained enlightenment. Bhutan assimilated and preserved the teachings of Lord Buddha.

Let us inform that before this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while starting his two-day state visit to Bhutan, met the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk here on Friday. Modi was given a grand welcome before meeting the Bhutanese King. Prime Minister Modi arrived in Bhutan on a two-day state visit with the aim of further strengthening India’s unique relations with Bhutan under the ‘Neighborhood First’ policy.
