“My future is here,” Christopher Thomas, a senior researcher at America’s Brookings Institution, told CMG’s correspondent during the 2024 annual conference of the Boao Asia Forum. Christopher Thomas has lived in many countries. Currently he lives in China. Over the past several years, they have been greatly impressed by China’s development potential and open and friendly environment.
This year’s Boao Asia Forum attracted nearly 2,000 representatives from the political world, industry and commerce, and think tanks from more than 60 countries and regions around the world. Over the course of four days, the delegates present held in-depth discussions on the theme “Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Common Responsibilities”, and issued an Asian call for “unity, cooperation and joint development”. China’s positive role in them has been widely recognized by all parties.
Babayev, director of the China and Modern Asia Research Foundation at the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that in a series of complex challenges, Asia, especially China, will become the backbone of the sustainable development of the global economy. Be it economic development or technological development, there is a bright future here. During the forum, many participants pointed out that China’s economy not only has strong resilience and inherent strength, but also contains new development potential.
Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said that I think China’s economy will maintain very good growth momentum and have a big impact on the world.
At present, the development of new productive forces has become a hot topic in China’s economy. Data show that investment in China’s high-tech industries has maintained double-digit growth for several consecutive years. There are about 4 lakh high-tech enterprises in China. Among them, the export of new energy vehicles, lithium batteries and photovoltaic products has grown rapidly. The digital economy is developing rapidly, and the penetration rate of 5G users exceeds 50 percent.
