‘Gaza ceasefire’ resolution: India remained absent during voting, reasons are clear

Gaza ceasefire: India’s role clear
There are calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war for humanitarian aid. The reason why India abstained from voting was due to the mention of terrorist organization Hamas. The draft calls for unhindered humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. It received support from more than 40 countries including Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan, Russia and South Africa.
India’s ambassador to the UN General Assembly, Yojana Patel, regarding India’s involvement in the Gaza ceasefire resolution, said, “The terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, would have been shocking. Also Aamhi Tyacha prohibits. Olishanchi immediately fulfills this demand unconditionally. No one should support terrorist acts. There is a need to address the humanitarian crisis. We welcome the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. “India itself has made an effort to contribute.”
