Geneva: Lecture titled “Rights Protection of Minority Ethnicities: China’s Practice in Tibet and Xinjiang” held – Dainik Savera Times

The China Human Rights Research Society held a lecture titled “Protection of Minority Ethnic Rights: China’s Practice in Tibet and Xinjiang” during the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland on March 18. Experts and scholars at home and abroad shared China’s experiences and achievements in protecting minority ethnic rights, focusing on practices in Tibet and Xinjiang.

Chia Chunyang, executive director of the Center for Economic and Social Security Research at the Chinese Institute of Contemporary International Relations, highlighted that education in Tibet is in accordance with Chinese laws and international treaties such as the UN International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Follows the relevant rules. It is consistent with local realities, respects public needs and safeguards the Tibetan language and culture. Andre Lacroix, a distinguished Tibetologist from Belgium, shared his observations expressing his deep appreciation for the development of Tibet.

Zhao Pasheng, director of the Center for International Communication and Cultural Security at Northwest University of Political Science and Law in China, said that emphasized Xinjiang’s overall social stability, in which people of different ethnicities co-exist peacefully. Xinjiang is experiencing its most prosperous era, with its diverse population enjoying human rights protections on a par with the rest of the country, he said, noting high levels of contentment and development.
