India was successful in issuing an Interpol Red Notice against Brar in June 2022, after which he is wanted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The High Commission of Canada in New Delhi said this in a statement.

The Canadian government on Tuesday named Satinder Singh Brar alias Goldie Brar, the alleged conspirator in the murder of noted singer Sidhu Musewala, in the country’s top 25 wanted criminals list. India was successful in issuing an Interpol Red Notice against Brar in June 2022, after which he is wanted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The High Commission of Canada in New Delhi said this in a statement. According to the Bolo (Be on the Lookout) program listing, a life-size cutout of Brar, along with all 25 fugitives, has been installed at Young-Dundas Square in Toronto.

Brar (29) is accused of murder, attempt to murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal arms smuggling in India. However, no reward has been announced for Brar, who is at number 15 in the list. Goldie Brar arrived in Canada in 2017 on a student visa. He had allegedly claimed responsibility for the murder of Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala who was shot dead on May 29, 2022 in Mansa district of Punjab. Brar is accused of having committed these crimes while in Canada and is currently under investigation, but does not face any criminal charges in Canada.

Goldie Brar, a resident of Muktsar in Punjab, is absconding since then. In Canada, Interpol red notices do not give police the right to arrest a person. A person may be arrested only if there are reasonable grounds that the person has committed an offense in Canada or a Canadian arrest warrant has been issued. According to the statement, the crimes alleged to have been committed by Brar in India are of a very serious nature and Canadian police will take cognizance of them. Brar is believed to be in Canada and poses a threat to public safety, the statement said. The Punjab Police has blamed Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi for Musewala’s murder.

Goldie Brar’s name figures in the 1850-page charge sheet filed in the Mansa court on August 26 last year. Notorious criminals Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, who are jailed along with a dozen others, have been named in the charge sheet. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Anti-Gangster Task Force chief Pramod Ban is probing the Moosewala murder case. Ban has said that the main conspirator Bishnoi has confessed that the conspiracy was executed in August 2021 to avenge the murder of Akali youth leader Middukheda.
