White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Israeli officials had informed him that water pipes in southern Gaza had been reopened.
Hamas Interior Ministry spokesman Iyad al-Bozom said Israel had not resumed water supplies to Gaza. He said residents drink unhealthy water, which is causing a serious health crisis and threatening the lives of citizens. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Israeli officials had informed him that water pipes in southern Gaza had been reopened. “I have been in contact with my Israeli counterparts since the last hour, who told me that they have indeed reopened the water pipes in southern Gaza,” he said.
Israel had halted the flow of water to Gaza as part of its siege since the war began last weekend. Tel Aviv had escalated the measures against the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip to a complete blockade. These include restrictions on food and fuel entry, the country’s Defense Minister Yoav Galanthad said then, calling it part of the fight against animal people.
