Who is Lalit Modi

Let us remind you that Lalit is the former boss of the Indian Premier League. Lalit Modi is credited with creating the cash-rich and glitzy Indian Premier League in 2008. Lalit was expelled from the BCCI in 2010, accusing him of rigging bids and money laundering, among other charges. He has been living in exile in London, facing an Enforcement Directorate probe for financial breaches. Lalit, accused of financial irregularities, fled India in 2010. He claimed that he feared for his life. He now lives in London. BCCI had banned Lalit for life in 2013.

Controversial meat exporter Moin Qureshi

Qureshi is a controversial meat exporter from Kanpur. According to India Today, Qureshi’s friends are said to have held high positions during the UPA regime. Qureshi ventured into the meat business from a small slaughterhouse in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. He became one of the largest meat exporters in India. It is said that Qureshi came to the attention of the authorities after famous singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performed at his daughter’s wedding in 2011. While returning to Pakistan, Khan was caught by the authorities with Rs 56 lakh in cash. Which he claimed was his fee for performing at the wedding. According to the Indian Express, he exchanged messages with AP Singh, which came to the notice of the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate. Qureshi is considered one of the top tax evaders in the country.

Salve made part of eight-member panel by Center

No doubt Salve is an eminent jurist. Salve, who received the Padma Bhushan in 2015, had argued against the hanging of Kulbhushan Jadhav before the International Court of Justice. He took Re 1 as a nominal fee for that matter. Salve is part of an eight-member panel recently constituted by the Center to explore the feasibility of the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal. The panel, headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind, aims to find out whether it is feasible to hold general and state elections simultaneously.

Opposition surrounded the government

Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi posted on X that it’s not that I care about a government BJP lawyer getting married for the third time and then very easily eloquent from the Modi government on same marriage law, polygamy etc. But what should worry everyone is a fugitive who is evading Indian law as an invitee and celebrating the wedding of Modi government’s favorite lawyer. Who is helping whom? Who is protecting whom is no longer a question.
