Sydney : A 10-year-old Australian boy who was seriously injured in a collision between two helicopters two weeks ago has come out of a coma in hospital. Four people died in this accident. A priest close to the boy’s family gave this information.
Nicolas Tadros was admitted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, where medical staff on Monday described his condition as “serious but stable”. Tadros’ mother Vanessa Tadros, 36, was killed when two Sea World theme park helicopters collided during Joy Flights on January 2 in the tourist town of Gold Coast, 80 kilometers south of Brisbane.
He was buried on Monday after a funeral near the family home in western Sydney. Father Suresh Kumar, one of the priests who performed the funeral, posted on social media on Monday that “Tadros has been taken off life support for a few days and is responding well.” Kumar posted, “They have reduced his sedation several times to see if he is reacting. Now he has come out of coma and is able to answer some questions by shaking his head.
Referring to Nicolas’ father Simon Tadros, Kumar said, “He is even able to hold his father’s hand.” The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the matter. British couple Ron and Diane Hughes and pilot Ashley Jenkison were also killed in the incident. A 33-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son were also among the other injured admitted to the hospital. The condition of both is said to be stable.
