Beirut: Hezbollah said in its claim that it shot down an Israeli drone and saw the drone fall in Iqlim Al Tufah, located more than 20 km from the border between Lebanon and Israel.
The ‘Israeli Hermes 450 drone’ was shot down by the Islamic Resistance air defense unit, Xinhua news agency reported. Hezbollah said its fighters will continue to confront the enemy and prevent them from achieving their offensive goals.
A Lebanese military source informed that three Israeli drones were spotted in the airspace near the southern Lebanon border area on Monday morning and two drones crossed the border into southern Lebanon, covering a distance of 15 to 20 km.
Israeli forces on Monday carried out three raids on two border towns in southern Lebanon and fired about 30 shells on eight towns and villages in the eastern and central regions, according to sources. Tensions have increased along the Lebanon-Israel border since 8 October 2023, after the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets towards Israel in support of Hamas’ attack on Israel on 7 October, in response to which Israel responded with heavy fire towards southeastern Lebanon .
