Hindi Diwas: …Today is the day of someone who is helpless every day?

In India, more than 5000 newspapers, big and small dailies, weekly and other periodicals are published every day and there are around 1500 magazines and more than 400 Hindi channels. Despite this, such was the condition of Hindi. Whether fundamentally or on paper, no doubt the government and society advocate the promotion of Hindi? But the real truth is that Hindi is being reduced to just one category. There should be a thorough review of where Hindi stands after 75 years of independence, i.e. in Amritkal. A picture that has emerged at this time is that Hindi has become the main language of the poor, the conversation among workers, the main language of rural areas and has become limited to common conversation. As English and other languages ​​are expanding, Hindi is lagging far behind. The matter is not very ancient, it is only from 9-10 years ago. In 2014, when Narendra Modi came into central politics as Prime Minister, he took unexpected steps regarding the trend of Hindi. An order was given to adopt Hindi in all ministries. Besides, a big campaign was also launched for increasing the usage of Hindi language. For some time the campaign gained momentum. But gradually he calmed down. Behind the calmness was the sadness of the people. Whereas, the Prime Minister had taken steps in this direction with great sincerity.

However, Hindi is still prevalent in most of the government departments and central ministries. But Hindi language is not getting the attention it should. There is no dearth of paper efforts. But, everything is zero on the ground. The central government is leaving no stone unturned in promoting Hindi, but the society is not supporting. The ghost of English is haunting the hearts and minds of the society. Every person wants to educate his children in English. Leaving aside government schools, English schools are in demand. Private schools are making a lot of money in the name of English. Well, the reasons behind this are in front of us. First of all, people consider Hindi speaking people to be uncultured and semi-rustic. From the group of English educated people, Hindi speaking people are considered distant from themselves. Of course, even if an English speaking person is not very educated, if he knows English, he is considered educated and intelligent. However, no one has any problem with the increasing trend of English. But, shouldn’t Hindi also stop its progress?

Well, if seen, the Hindi society itself is the biggest reason for the plight of Hindi. His hypocrisy, his duplicity and his drowsiness? It is true that the progress of a culture is a mirror of the progress of its society. But in this sense Hindi society is very contradictory. Now, if the Hindi community constitutes a major part of the backward communities of the country, then it is also absolutely true to the extent of statistics that a major part of the equal section of the country is also made up of the Hindi community. Therefore, it would not be wrong to say that today this language is suffering the brunt of society’s neglect. Say whatever you want, but the truth is that only the villagers have saved the honor of Hindi. Because even today Hindi is worshiped and spoken there. Even today he does not give as much importance to English as compared to Hindi. We do not oppose English, but Hindi should not be ridiculed under its cover.

What is the truth of Hindi language in modern times? Maybe there is no need to tell anyone? Everyone knows how backward Hindi considers itself to be in terms of understanding English. Ever since the big people, the rich class and the developed society have rejected the Hindi language and adopted English as the communication language, the days of Hindi have started to wane. There is no one else’s fault in this, definitely we and you are responsible. A daily wage laborer also wants to send his children to an English school. He also likes English better than Hindi. In fact, such a difference has arisen which cannot be reduced easily. This is also true, why should the children of daily wage earners and rickshaw pullers lag behind anyone? They also have the right to read and speak English like others. Will get our rights, and must do so. Due to all these collective reasons, Hindi is becoming helpless in the current era of globalization and liberalization. Today is Hindi Day, but are you forced to do so every day?

There is a need that there should not be mere tribute on Hindi Diwas, we will have to be committed towards our native language. Those who speak pure Hindi should not be considered rustic and uncultured. There are no jobs for Hindi speaking people in BPO and big companies. Due to this change, at present every second person in the country is forced to teach English to his children. This practice needs to be changed. However, we should not leave this work entirely to the governments. We should also understand our responsibility. To keep Hindi alive, efforts will have to be made on our own. For this a mass movement is needed. There is a big challenge before us to save the supremacy of Hindi. Whereas, if seen, the trend of teaching Hindi in colleges of different countries has increased. There is a doubt that it may happen that foreigners may again infiltrate our country on the strength of Hindi language. When he speaks and understands Hindi then he will be able to enter here easily. We need to be alert.
