what is its story
Hinglaj Temple is also known as Nani Temple. This temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths sacred to Hinduism. People even call it Vaishno Devi Dham of Balochistan. The Hinglaj Temple is situated on the banks of the Hingol River. About five million devotees visit the temple in the month of April. According to the scriptures, Mata Sati had burnt herself in a havan kund. She could not bear the humiliation of her husband Lord Shiva at the hands of her father. In sorrow, Lord Shiva carried the body of Mother Sati for many days. After this Lord Vishnu used his Chakra on the body, whose pieces fell at different places, which later came to be known as Shaktipeeths. It is said that the first piece of the body was his head which fell on Kirthar mountain and it is known as Hinglaj.

It is also said that after killing Ravana, Lord Rama came to this temple for darshan. Every year Bhandara and Phalhar are organized here by the devotees. Lakhs of devotees also take part in the Hinglaj Yatra in April. The Sindhi community throngs here in large numbers to pay obeisance during Navratri. Muslims know this temple as ‘Nani ki Haj’. The temple is situated in a cave.
