If Rahul Gandhi has said something against the country, then why doesn’t the government register a case of sedition?

The whole world saw what happened in the Parliament. The question is, when the central government considers Rahul’s statement so serious, then why doesn’t it file a case against him for insulting the country and treason? The court will decide whether Rahul Gandhi has insulted the country or not.

After independence, this is the first time in the country’s parliamentary history that the ruling party has stalled the Parliament. This action of Parliament was obstructed due to the demand of apology from Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi. The expenditure per minute of the Parliament session comes to Rs 2.5 lakh. That is, if the proceedings of the Parliament remain stalled even for a day, then there is a loss of crores of rupees. MPs or ministers do not compensate for this, but the common taxpayers of the country have to pay the cost. Rahul accused of being under the control of institutions in India and his phone being spied at an event at London’s Cambridge University. Rahul raised the issue of registration of criminal cases against him. Called for foreign intervention, calling the RSS a ‘fascist’ organization and controlling the media and judiciary in India.

BJP alleges that Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi has insulted the country by going abroad. Significantly, there is a live telecast of the proceedings of the Parliament. The whole world saw what happened in the Parliament. The question is, when the central government considers Rahul’s statement so serious, then why doesn’t it file a case against him for insulting the country and treason? The court will decide whether Rahul Gandhi has insulted the country or not. BJP’s abstention from this shows that insult and treason of the country is being made only an election issue. In reality, BJP does not want to take any legal action in this matter. The question is also that the BJP will deal with Rahul Gandhi in an electoral way, but how will it deal with the picture of the country’s condition shown by the global organizations in various matters? The BJP never talked about apologizing to such institutions and warning those countries about a rift in relations. However, the central government has been dismissing those reports as tarnishing the image of India.

In the past years, the picture of India presented in the reports of various organizations including the United Nations, which provide world class rankings, has been embarrassing the country. The BJP government at the center can reject the reports issued in various cases in the world, but cannot apologize, due to which India’s global image has been damaged. India has slipped six places to rank 107 out of 121 countries on the Global Hunger Index 2022. India ranks 136 out of a total of 146 countries included in the World Happiness Index in the United Nations’ annual index. India remains at 142nd position in the World Press Freedom Index 2021 released by Reporters Without Borders. The determination of the government, which boasts of zero tolerance towards corruption, can be gauged from the fact that India ranked 85th among 180 countries in the 2021 Global Corruption Perception Index. India was ranked 131st in the Human Development Index last year and in the report for the year 2021-22, India’s position slipped to 132nd in the list of 191 countries.

Similarly, the State of Environment in India Report 2021 revealed that India’s rank was 115 last year and now it has gone down two more places. In the Global Peace Index-2022, India has been placed in the low category in terms of peace. In this ranking, India has now reached 135th position by climbing 3 steps. India secured 71st position among 113 countries in the Global Food Security Index-2021. India ranked 79 out of 139 countries and jurisdictions in the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Index 2021. India accounts for 11 percent of road accident deaths in the world. While we have only one percent of the world’s vehicles. According to the NCRB report, 73535 children went missing in the year 2021. If we talk about the last 5 years, then the number of missing children is 340000. For the last 5 years, on an average 68000 children have gone missing every year. Even during the corona virus epidemic, 59263 children went missing. 75% of the children who go missing are girls.

According to Halt the Hate, an interactive website by Amnesty International India, India has seen a sharp rise in incidents of alleged hate crimes since 2016. In the first six months of 2019 alone, 181 incidents of such crimes were reported by the website. India has been ranked 9th in road safety for women, intentional homicide of women, non-partner sexual violence, intimate partner sexual violence, legal discrimination, global gender gap, gender inequality and threat index of violence against women in a report by the World Population Review 2022. is in place. In a survey conducted by global experts, India was described as the most unsafe country for women. A survey by the Thomson Reuters Foundation ranked India as the most unsafe country for sexual harassment against women and forced sex workers. India has been ranked 66th in the Global Health Security Index for the year 2021.

One cannot turn away from the situation of India as evident in various global reports. Criticism of India on these reports cannot be suppressed. The Supreme Court had to intervene on the sedition law. Hundreds of arrests have been made in this case. It was seen all over the world how criminal cases are filed in India for raising voice. The Supreme Court has said in its order that no new case of treason will be registered till the review of this law is completed. India’s democratic structure is not so weak that it gets tainted just by Rahul Gandhi’s statement. The allegations made by Rahul Gandhi should be investigated by a judge of the Supreme Court or by an independent investigation agency, only then the truth can come out, otherwise such cases can be considered nothing more than stunts of electoral politics.
