Imran Khan came out from the back gate of Islamabad High Court, said – even after the order of the court, the authorities stopped, reached Lahore after 48 hours of drama

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court in several cases, leaves the court complex for his residence at Zaman Park in Lahore. Geo News reported that the PTI chief left the Islamabad High Court complex early Saturday in a escorted convoy after two days of detention. He was greeted by PTI supporters on his way to Lahore. Imran Khan chose a road route to reach his Lahore residence. Imran Khan finally reached his residence after tremendous uproar.

The Islamabad High Court on Friday granted him protective bail for two weeks in a corruption case and restrained authorities from arresting the former Pakistan prime minister in any case registered anywhere in the country till Monday. While going to Lahore, Imran Khan said, “By the grace of Allah we are on the way to Lahore. IG Islamabad tried their best to stop me in Islamabad, they blocked me for 3 hours. When I said I am a citizen of Pakistan I will tell the whole thing that you kidnapped me, then he will release me. Khan said, “By convincing him that we would inform the entire Pakistani nation about his act of abducting and forcibly detaining us, we managed to secure our release.” “Under pressure, they finally allowed us to leave,” he said.

After being granted bail, Imran Khan stayed inside for hours and said he was not being allowed to leave by security officials. However, the court granted him bail in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case, and the court ordered authorities to stop arresting Khan in any new cases until 17 May. Besides, he got bail till May 22 in the Jila Shah murder case, while another bench stayed his arrest till May 15 in three terrorism cases, Geo News reported.

Khan welcomed the court’s order and said that the judiciary was Pakistan’s only defense against the “law of the jungle”. He told reporters inside the court premises, “I must say that I expected this from our judiciary, because now the only hope is left – the only thin line between banana republic and democracy is the judiciary.” Imran Khan’s arrest last week in the Al-Qadir Trust case outside the Islamabad court complex sparked violent clashes, but Pakistan’s Supreme Court later declared the arrest illegal. The IHC’s decision to grant Khan a two-week respite from arrest came hours after he warned of nationwide unrest if he was arrested again. Khan is facing over 120 cases across the country for allegedly sedition and blasphemy and inciting violence and terrorism.
