Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has expressed apprehensions about her husband’s safety in Punjab’s Attock District Jail, saying his life could be in danger due to the possibility of poisoning in custody. An Islamabad court on August 5 found Imran Khan guilty in a case related to non-disclosure of information about government gifts and sentenced him to three years in prison. Following the verdict, he was arrested by the Punjab Police from his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore and taken to the District Jail Attock. Imran Khan’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha has repeatedly criticized the conditions in which the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party leader is being kept.
Panjutha met Imran Khan in jail on 7 August. After the meeting, he revealed that I asked Khan Sahab about the condition of the jail after his arrest. He said he was being kept in a dark, small, C-class, mill room. He said that there is an open toilet, which does not have a shower. He said that there are flies in the morning and insects in the evening.
