PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Friday reached the Lahore High Court (LHC) after filing separate petitions seeking protective bail in nine First Information Reports (FIRs) lodged against him in Islamabad and Lahore. A two-member bench of Justice Tariq Salim Shaikh and Justice Farooq Haider will hear pleas for protective bail in four of the nine cases registered under terrorism charges. In the remaining five cases, the bail request will be heard by a single member bench of Justice Sheikh.
Two of the cases pertain to vandalism in the Islamabad Judicial Complex while the other pertains to police action in Zaman Park. Also, one of these cases pertains to the recent death of PTI activist Jila Shah. Before Imran’s arrival, the Lahore High Court had directed Punjab Police Chief Dr. Usman Anwar to help the PTI chief reach the court. The court had initially said that it would hear Imran’s plea for protective bail at 5 pm, but later extended it till 5:30 pm.
