According to the news, the joint team probing the cases registered against Imran Khan has informed the Islamabad High Court that it wants to arrest the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) chairman Khan. Khan, who was ousted from power in April last year, has 121 cases registered across the country including sedition, blasphemy, inciting violence and terrorism.
12 cases of terrorism against Imran Khan are registered in Lahore alone while 14 other cases are registered in Faisalabad. Meanwhile, 70-year-old Khan was produced before a special bench of the Islamabad High Court for hearing on his bail application in a corruption case amid tight security. The special bench of the high court comprises Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz.
Earlier, Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in a message asked its supporters to reach the G-13 area, not far from the High Court complex, for Khan’s speech at 10 am. It said that the party leaders can make speeches before appearing in the court as they are not sure of getting relief from the high court. The Islamabad police issued a statement late on Thursday saying that Section 144 was still in force in the capital and requested political activists not to “obstruct the legal process”. He tweeted, ‘We request those who called for demonstrations in Islamabad tomorrow not to disturb the peace.’
