IMRAN KHAN: Is Imran’s political innings coming to an end? Will his life pass in the dark cell of the jail after the throne of Pakistan? The rigging in the Toshakhana case will spoil his credibility as well as all his plans to come back to power. Many questions are arising after the arrest of Imran Khan. Khan has now reached jail. He has been banned from contesting elections for five years. Yes… After playing the game of checkmate with power and law for a long time, finally former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Islam (PTI) chief Imran Khan has reached behind the bars. Imran Khan has been sentenced to three years in jail in a corruption case.

The police has arrested Imran Khan today i.e. on Saturday itself. There is an allegation against Imran Khan that while in power, he has earned profits by selling expensive government gifts received from abroad. Not only this, Additional Judge Humayun Dilawar of the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on Imran Khan. The court said that he would be kept in jail for another six months for not paying the fine. During the hearing, Dilawar said in his decision that the allegations of false declaration of assets against the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have been proved.

Imran Khan arrested, will not be able to contest elections for 5 years!
After the allegations against Imran Khan were proved, the Islamabad Police with the help of the Punjab Police arrested Imran Khan from his residence in Lahore. On behalf of Imran Khan’s party, it was also informed by tweeting that the police is taking Khan to Kot Lakhpat Jail. Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Ataullah Tarar has also confirmed the arrest of Imran Khan. Apart from this, the trial court of Islamabad has banned Imran from contesting elections for five years. That is, if the situation remains the same then Imran Khan will not be able to contest elections for the next five years.

What is the charge on Imran
Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has been jailed in the Toshakhana case. In fact, Imran’s allegation of profiting from selling expensive government gifts during his stay in power in 2018 has been proved. According to an estimate, Imran had received more than 50 gifts worth about Rs 14 crore during his foreign visits. Out of these gifts, Imran Khan bought some expensive gifts from Toshakhana for Rs 2.15 crore, and earned a profit of Rs 5.8 crore by selling them. A case was registered against Imran Khan regarding this, due to which he has been sentenced to jail. Let us tell you, the gifts include a graph clock, a pair of cuffings, an expensive pen and many more things.

Pakistan Muslim League exposes Toshakhana case
The Imran Khan Toshakhana case came to light when a coalition government led by the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) was formed in the year 2022, and a case was filed against Imran Khan. The government claimed that Imran had tampered with the gifts kept in the Toshakhana. Also, he has not given complete information about the gifts. The government had alleged that Imran Khan had illegally sold some expensive gifts.

What happens to Toshakhana
The Toshakhana is a department under the Cabinet Division, where gifts given to rulers and government officials on behalf of other heads of government and foreign dignitaries are kept. Khan bought some gifts from the Toshakhana, including an expensive watch, and sold them to make a profit. Similarly, Imran Khan had bought many items of Toshakhana cheaply and sold them at an expensive price.

Now what is the option in front of Imran Khan
Imran Khan has been sentenced to three years in jail, he also has to pay a fine of one lakh rupees. Also, he will not be able to contest elections for the next five years. If we talk about what Imran can do next, then Imran Khan has the option of challenging the decision in the higher court. They can challenge this decision in the High Court and then in the Supreme Court. In such a situation, if this decision is upheld in the upper court, then the difficulties for Imran are not going to reduce. And if the upper court rejects the decision of the lower court, then Imran Khan can get relief. However, meanwhile news is coming that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif can dissolve the parliament. If this happens then within three months when Imran Khan will be in jail, elections will be held in Pakistan.
