Imran Khan’s nephew Barrister Hasan Niazi sent to judicial custody for 14 days

Duty Magistrate Murid Abbas rejected the police’s request to extend Niazi’s remand, saying the police had failed to recover anything from the suspect.
A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Thursday sent PTI chairman Imran Khan’s nephew Hasan Niazi to 14-day judicial custody in a case of misbehaving with police officers. Duty Magistrate Murid Abbas rejected the police’s request to extend Niazi’s remand, saying the police had failed to recover anything from the suspect. He said Niyazi should be produced in the court on April 6. Niazi was arrested again on Monday in a separate case as he was leaving the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) after seeking pre-arrest bail in three cases.
A new First Information Report (FIR) pertains to alleged misbehavior with the officers. A case was registered against them at Ramna police station. The FIR was registered on the complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector Khuban Shah under sections 34 (common intention), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 324 (attempt to murder), 353 (causing public servant to commit murder), Dawn reported. Assault or criminal force to deter from discharge of duty), 427 (mischief by causing damage to the tune of Rs 50) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code at Ramna police station.
The FIR alleged that the police tried to stop Niazi’s vehicle but the driver tried to run him over. It said that on being stopped, Niazi got out of the vehicle and abused the police and threatened to shoot them. On Tuesday, the District and Sessions Court sent Niyazi to police custody for two days. On the same day, Niazi filed an appeal against the verdict.
