PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday sent a defamation notice of Rs 10 billion to Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel. He claimed that the mental stability of the former prime minister was questionable. Last week, the government had shared confidential medical reports of Imran’s tests, which were reportedly carried out during his detention earlier this month, which claimed that no fractures were found in his legs. Alcohol and an illegal drug were found in his urine sample.
The details were shared by Patel at a press conference in Karachi. The minister had termed the PTI chief’s medical report a “public document” and said he did not need anyone’s permission to release it. However, politicians and analysts pointed out glaring contradictions in the report. His medical reports revealed that he consumed drugs like alcohol and cocaine while the report claimed that Imran’s mental stability was questionable.
The notice served on Patel has been sent under Section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance, 2002 for circulating false, baseless, false, misleading, inaccurate, malicious and defamatory information. The press conference was viewed in Pakistan as well as all over the world through electronic media channels, YouTube and various other social media platforms. Besides this, the details of the press conference were also published in national and international level newspapers.
